How It Works

Fraxel® DUAL is a non-ablative laser – which means the skin remains intact. It works to stimulate your body’s own natural healing response, replacing damaged cells with fresh, glowing, healthy skin. Fraxel® DUAL only treats a fraction of the tissue at a time leaving the surrounding tissues untouched to promote rapid healing. It has two wavelengths; 1927 which targets superficial pigmented abnormalities and 1550 which is deeper targeting and produces tightening and collagen remodeling.

What To Expect

To minimize discomfort, a topical anesthetic agent is applied 60 minutes before the procedure. Depending on the size of the area, the treatment can take 30 – 45 minutes. Most patients describe increase heat, or a snappy sensation during treatment. After treatment, sensation and appearance is much like a sunburn which usually diminishes in 1 – 2 days.

During the following days your skin may appear pink or red, it may even bronze slightly before it begins to flake and exfoliate.

Within 1 week your skin will feel softer, look brighter and have a more even tone. The next 3 – 6 months will bring more improvement as the deeper layers of the skin continue to heal. The changes can last for years depending on your age, lifestyle, skin condition, and at home skin routine.
