Fraxel® DUAL re:store
Fraxel® DUAL re:store is a patented, non-ablative laser technology which resurfaces the skin. It is the leading choice among celebrities. Microscopic laser columns penetrate deep into the skin, triggering a wound healing response which then remodels and stimulates the production of collagen. The ultimate result is skin tightening, improvement of texture and tone. It has FDA approval for the treatment of precancerous lesions called AK’s (Actinic Keratosis).
My skin looks clearer, brighter, and firmer
My skin tone has evened out. I also noticed my fine lines have diminished. I love, love, love the results!
I highly recommend Fraxel to anyone who has sun damage and resulting pigmentation. It has also helped my overall tone, pore size, and fine lines. It’s been a game changer. I love my skin and I’m taking better care as a result when I’m exposed to the sun.
Corrected Sun Damage
I have had a lot of sun damage on my face, so I was constantly covering it up with concealer. When I came to see Dr. Leia-Stephen, she suggested Fraxel. I did it and I was thrilled! After the first treatment I went out with really no pain and after the next two, I just felt like I had a new face!”

How It Works
Fraxel® DUAL is a non-ablative laser – which means the skin remains intact. It works to stimulate your body’s own natural healing response, replacing damaged cells with fresh, glowing, healthy skin. Fraxel® DUAL only treats a fraction of the tissue at a time leaving the surrounding tissues untouched to promote rapid healing. It has two wavelengths; 1927 which targets superficial pigmented abnormalities and 1550 which is deeper targeting and produces tightening and collagen remodeling.
What To Expect
To minimize discomfort, a topical anesthetic agent is applied 60 minutes before the procedure. Depending on the size of the area, the treatment can take 30 – 45 minutes. Most patients describe heat, or a snappy sensation during treatment. After treatment, sensation and appearance is much like a sunburn which usually diminishes in 1 – 2 days.
During the following days your skin may appear pink or red, it may even bronze slightly before it begins to flake and exfoliate.
Within 1 week your skin will feel softer, look brighter and have a more even tone. The next 3 – 6 months will bring more improvement as the deeper layers of the skin continue to heal. The changes can last for years depending on your age, lifestyle, skin condition, and at home skin routine.
- 3 – 5 treatments spaced every 4 – 6 weeks for acne scars
- 3 treatments for cosmetic resurfacing
- After initial set of treatments, we would recommend maintenance of 1 treatment per year
Most redness and swelling subside within 48 hours however the bronzing and flaking could last a few days. Makeup can be applied.
Post Treatment Care
No direct or unprotected sun exposure for at least 3 weeks. Use 2 layer UV protection with Vitamin C serum and sunblock (SPF 30 or higher) that contains ingredients like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide.
